Come As You Are… in honor of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week Monday, February 25 through Friday, March 1, 2019

It may mean coming to treatment even when you don’t feel ready or even willing….

It may mean coming to treatment when you’ve tried treatment countless times already and each time you’ve found yourself back where you started in the first place…

It may mean coming to treatment when you don’t really think you’re sick enough to “deserve” it…

It may mean coming to treatment when you’re cloaked in shame.. that you can’t bear the thought of sharing your story.  It’s too messy, ugly, different….

It may mean coming to treatment even when the ED voice is screaming that treatment will ruin all your hard work completed in service of the disorder…

It may mean coming to treatment even though you don’t meet the “image” of what an eating disorder sufferer “should” look like…

It may mean coming to treatment when there are parts of your eating disorder that you’re willing or wanting to relinquish but other parts that you simply refuse to give up…

It may mean coming to treatment but putting everything else that’s important to you on the back burner – because you simply can’t keep going on living this way and need to sacrifice school or work or even being with family to get the level of care necessary to move you forward…
